BHU UG Second Allotment List: Important Details

Candidates can now accept the ‘offer of admission’ and deposit the ‘commitment fee’ to potentially upgrade their seat in the next round if they choose to float (meaning they are prepared to upgrade their allocation).

The candidate can be upgraded within the same faculty, implying that they will receive a higher preference within the same programme. Elaborating further, the university explained that in this scenario, the candidate will be compelled to accept the new programme. Thus, if a student who initially received an allocation for BA Social Sciences History (Hons) in the first round decides to float, and in the second round, they receive a higher preference such as BA Social Sciences Economics (Hons), they must accept Economics (Hons) and cannot revert back to History (Hons).

The university will announce up to eight rounds of seat allotment. The computation of vacancies after the regular rounds of counselling will be conducted on August 16. If candidates receive an ‘Offer of Admission’ for other faculties or programmes, they will have the choice to either stay in their original allotment or shift to the new faculty. If a candidate accepts an offer and moves to a new faculty (e.g., if they initially paid a commitment fee for BA Social Sciences History (Hons) and subsequently shift to BCom), they will not be allowed to switch back to BA Social Sciences History (Hons). If they choose to stick with BA Social Sciences History (Hons) and forego BCom, they will not be considered for BCom in the future. “Under no circumstances will requests to revert to the previous allotment be entertained once the candidate has chosen to upgrade or has moved to some other faculty/programme,” BHU added.

A candidate who was waitlisted in earlier rounds may secure a confirmed seat in subsequent rounds. In this case, again, they can receive an ‘offer of admission’ in one or more courses, and the rules will remain the same, the university stated.
