Education Budget 2025: The Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the 8th consecutive Union Budget 2025 today, February 1. While the education sector still dreams of allocating 6% of GDP to the public education system, academics and experts have pushed for AI integration in school and college education.

The education sector can expect a reduction of GST on education services, boosting vocational training platforms, and investing in innovation. The education budget for 2025 is expected to emphasize job creation to address the unemployment rate in India. Academics have also demanded increasing upskilling courses along with introducing artificial intelligence (AI) courses.

In March 2024, the union cabinet approved a Rs 10,371.92 crore investment for the India Artificial Intelligence (AI) mission to establish a robust AI ecosystem. The initiative is aligned with the vision of “Making AI in India” and “Making AI work for India” by the Independent Business Division (IBD) under Digital India Corporation (DIC).
