CBSE: In line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided to make changes to the exam pattern to relieve students from exam stress.

Starting from the academic session 2025-26, CBSE’s 10th and 12th exams will be conducted twice a year. The key aspect of this change is that the draft for the board exam, to be held twice a year, will be made public for suggestions from teachers, students, and educators.

The feedback received will help shape the final structure of the exams. According to a senior official, the CBSE presented the plan to conduct board exams twice a year to Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Monday.

The new academic session for the CBSE will begin this April, and around the same time, the board will issue the exam notification. Minister Pradhan mentioned that creating a stress-free learning environment for students has been the government’s focus.

This step is a significant move towards exam reforms. It is also a crucial step toward implementing the key provisions of NEP 2020.

According to the post shared on X, “Creating a stress-free learning environment for students has been an important focus of the Government. Examination Improvement and Reform is a key step toward this.

Taking this a step forward, detailed deliberations with The secretary of School Education, the CBSE Chairperson, and other officials of the Ministry and CBSE over the “Conduct of CBSE examinations twice a year”. The draft schema of these deliberations will be placed soon for public consultation by CBSE.

This reform is another crucial step towards implementation of key provisions of NEP and will help mitigate exam-related stress among students.”
