ICAI: The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) in its 26th Council on February 12 elected its new president and vice-president for the term 2025-26. CA Charanjot Singh Nanda is the new ICAI president and CA Prasanna Kumar D is the vice-president of ICAI. 
 

The baton has been passed from CA Ranjeet Kumar Agarwal to CA Charanjot Singh Nanda and from CA Charanjot Singh Nanda to CA Prasanna Kumar D. CA Charanjot Singh Nanda, FCA, the 73rd president of ICAI is a Fellow Member and has been a practicing Chartered Accountant for the last 34 years since 1991. 
 


He attained his Bachelor of Commerce degree from MLN College in 1987. Nanda, a practicing Chartered Accountant for over three decades, has been associated with ICAI’s Central Council since 2004 and has served multiple terms. D Prasanna Kumar, a Chartered Accountant from Andhra Pradesh (Southern India Regional Council) was elected as Vice President. 

 


Nanda has chaired various committees, including the Internal Audit Standards Board, the Committee for Members in Industry, and the Women Members Empowerment Committee. His leadership has been instrumental in issuing new Standards on Internal Audit and promoting the exchange of ideas between the Institute and Chartered Accountants in industries.  

 


He has also represented the Institute in various government bodies and regulatory agencies, such as the Quality Review Board and SEBI Advisory Committees. He has also been involved with international platforms like the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA).  

 

 

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, abbreviated as ICAI, is India’s largest professional accounting body under the administrative control of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India. It was established on 1 July 1949 as a statutory body under the Chartered Accountants Act, 1949 enacted by the Parliament for promotion, development, and regulation of the profession of Chartered Accountancy in India.
