NEET UG 2024 SC Hearing: The Supreme Court will hear petitions on Monday, 22 July, demanding the cancellation of NEET UG results and a re-examination. In the previous hearing, a Supreme Court bench led by Chief Justice of India D.Y. Chandrachud, Justice J.B. Pardiwala, and Justice Manoj Mishra had directed the National Testing Agency (NTA) to publish city and center-wise NEET UG results without revealing the identities of the students.
In the NEET UG 2024 SC hearing, Advocate Hooda argued that the paper leak occurred on or before May 3, prior to the question papers being deposited with the banks, and not on the morning of the exam day.
Candidates must note that the results were published on the NTA website on Saturday, 20 July. The Supreme Court is expected to deliver its final verdict today on the petitions to cancel NEET UG 2024 and over 40 other petitions.
According to the NEET UG 2024 results, more than 11,000 NEET UG candidates scored zero or negative marks in the exam. The lowest score received by any candidate in the crucial exam is -180, which was at a center in Bihar.
In the previous hearing, the top court had stated that a re-examination for NEET should be based on solid grounds, as it affects the integrity of the entire exam.
Data shared by the NTA shows that candidates allegedly benefitting from paper leaks and other irregularities did not perform well. However, some centers had a higher number of candidates with good scores.
The performance of candidates from centers under investigation, such as Oasis School in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand; Hardayal Public School in Jhajjar, Haryana; and Jay Jalaram International School in Godhra, Gujarat, was comparatively poor.
