To provide this service, SOL has partnered with the Postal Department. If the residential address is incorrect, the parcel will be returned to SOL. Until now, study materials were provided to students at all three SOL centers via appointments.
At the undergraduate level, approximately 1.5 lakh students are enrolled at SOL. Study materials are distributed at the time of admission and at the beginning of a new semester. Every day, two to two and a half thousand students are called for appointments at the three centers, where they are given their study materials.
Professor Payal Mago, Director of the School of Open Learning, explained that sending study materials via parcel will be launched as part of a pilot project. This service will be launched at an event on Wednesday. Initially, it will be offered to Honors students.
Professor Mago added that the study materials will be sent to Honors students from the academic years 2022-23, 2023-24, and 2024-25. Students will also be able to track their parcels, just like Speed Post and other parcels.
Under this system, the tracking ID will be posted on the website, where students can use their name and roll number to track their parcel. To avail of this facility, students have been asked to update their residential addresses on the website.
This will prevent the issue of study materials being lost or not reaching them. If the pilot project is successful, this service will be extended to other programs starting next year.
