Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath said that the land on which a poor person had made his/her hut should be transferred in his/her name if the land was undisputed and not in any reserved category and, if required, houses could be built in clusters in some districts. CM Yogi also said that a campaign should be launched to saturate all the beneficiaries of the Prime Minister Awas Yojana and Chief Minister Housing Scheme with the benefits of the government schemes like toilet, kitchen, electricity, Ayushman Bharat, and Jivan Jyoti schemes. The CM issued these directions while transferring Rs 87 crore as the first instalment in the accounts of the 21,562 beneficiaries of the Chief Minister Rural Housing Scheme or Mukhyamantri Gramin Awas Yojana.

UP Mukhyamantri Gramin Awas Yojana 2020

Uttar Pradesh government had earlier started UP Mukhyamantri Gramin Awas Yojana to provide homes to the poor homeless people in the state. Housing and Urban Planning Department of Uttar Pradesh is implementing the plan of providing free housing units to the homeless poor of the state. Under the CM Rural Housing Scheme, the state govt. also provides affordable homes to people belonging to LIG / MIG 1 category of the society.

Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana for Poor in UP

Yogi government had started this CM Rural Housing Scheme so that not a single person had to live without home. UP Mukhyamantri Gramin Awas Yojana even enables the people living in slums in their rehabilitation. Since the people who do not have enough money to buy food, it is impossible for them to afford a home. Hence, the Yogi Adityanath Government had decided to provide free housing to such poor homeless families.

Chief Minister Yogi, who is also the housing minister has now distributed amount under Mukhyamantri Gramin Awas Yojana or CM Rural Housing Scheme in UP. Earlier, the plan was to rename the housing scheme for poor after Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay but the idea has been put on hold. Under the scheme, apart from free housing for poor, people belonging to LIG / EWS / MIG 1 category would be provided homes at affordable cost.

The flagship housing scheme of central government to provide housing for all by 2022, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana is already running in the state. Under the PMAY, central government is providing financial assistance of up to Rs. 1.5 lakh for EWS beneficiaries while state government is providing Rs. 1 Lakh.

Samajwadi Awas Yojana which was started by the earlier government has failed to provide much benefits to the state residents. The scheme had been renamed as Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana and for rural areas, the name is Mukhyamantri Gramin Awas Yojana or CM Rural Housing Scheme. In this scheme, the left out people of PMAY housing scheme living in rural areas are eligible.

CM Rural Housing Scheme 1st Installment

CM Rural Housing Scheme 1st installment of Rs. 87 crore has been transferred in accounts of 21,562 beneficiaries. These Mukhyamantri Gramin Awas Yojana beneficiaries should also be associated with self-employment programmes (goat, poultry, dairy, etc.) as per the requirement. They should also be given the necessary training and also be facilitated in getting bank loans and also be motivated for self-employment.

Those present in the programme included Rural Development Minister Moti Singh and other senior officials. The CM also said that the local administration should ensure that the beneficiaries used the money in building houses and the poor got the bricks, cement etc. at reasonable prices. Yogi Adityanath said nodal officers should also be appointed for weekly review of the construction of houses.

“The section of the people who are the beneficiaries of houses are also the most vulnerable to encephalitis, tuberculosis, kala azar and malnutrition-borne diseases. They should also be given a healthy cow from the cow shelters and Rs 900 per month for the maintenance of cows. The cow shed can also be constructed under the MGNREGA,” he said.

Yogi interacted with some of the beneficiaries and told them to construct a toilet along with the house. He also enquired from them about the government schemes from which they were getting benefits and instructed the district administration to hold a campaign and extend the benefits of the schemes to those who were eligible.

The CM interacted with Prema (Ayodhya), Soni (Azamgarh), Sangeeta (Kushinagar), Asha (Jaunpur), Akshay Bar (Gorakhpur), Anshu (Rae Bareli), Meera (Sonbhadra), and others.
