SC rules out cancellation, re-test of controversy-ridden NEET-UG, 2024

The Supreme Court on Tuesday dismissed the pleas seeking cancellation and re-test of the controversy-ridden NEET-UG 2024, holding that there was no data on record to indicate a systemic leak of question paper and other malpractices.

A bench comprising Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud and Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra heard submissions from a battery of lawyers, including Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for the Centre and the National Testing Agency (NTA), and senior advocates Narender Hooda, Sanjay Hegde and Mathews Nedumapra for around four days.

The bench dictated the operative part of the judgement keeping in mind the future of over two million students and said a detailed judgement will follow.

Meanwhile, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has begun the round 2 counselling registration for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Masters of Dental Surgery (NEET MDS) 2024. Interested candidates can visit the official website i.e. mcc.nic.in. to fill out the counselling registration form. 

The NEET MDS 2024 choice-filling process has also been started and the last date to submit preferences is 28 July 2024 up to 11:55 pm. The NEET MDS 2024 counselling fee payment and registration window will be open till 3 pm. 

Only registered candidates with completed payments will be eligible for choice filling and seat allotment. NEET MDS 2024 seat allotment process is scheduled from July 29 to July 30, 2024. Seats will be allocated based on candidates’ preferences and merit. 

The NEET MDS 2024 round 2 seat allotment result will be declared on 31 July 2024. According to the counselling schedule, candidates will have to report to their assigned college from 1 to 7 August 2024. Verification of joined candidates will take place from 8 to 9 August 2024.
