E RICKSHAW ASSISTANT SCHEME | Battery Operated Three Wheeler Scheme 2021-22: Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has announced an assistance scheme to encourage the use of battery-operated two-wheelers and three-wheelers in the Gujarat state. The announcement was made to check air pollution in the state.

Chief Minister also announced a 50-lakh rupee scheme for creating the necessary infrastructure for charging e-vehicles. This was announced on the occasion of the foundation day of the climate change department in the state yesterday.

He also stated that as a push for green energy, the Gujarat government has provided subsidy assistance to 1.38 lakh houses to set up rooftop solar power installations. A total of 510 megawatts of solar systems have been installed with this support. The State has set a target to cover two lakh houses under solar rooftop projects with the financial support of ₹912 crores under the current year’s budget.

Rupani also stated that Gujarat has a 30 percent share of green energy in its total 35,500 MW of installed power generation capacities, higher when compared with the national average of 23 percent.

As a result of this, Rupani added, about one crore tonnes of coal is saved and 2 lakh tonnes of carbon dioxide gas is prevented from getting into the air. In order to revolutionize the initiatives for climate change, the State government inked memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with 10 organizations for a variety of objectives.

Gujarat Energy Development Agency (GEDA) invites EOI for “Authorization of Manufacturers for Marketing & distribution of Battery Operated Three-wheelers (E-Rickshaws) with Lithium-ion battery in Gujarat State under GEDA BOV scheme with State Govt. Subsidy for the year 2021-22 from interested reputed Manufacturers only.

Interested parties are required to download the Offer document through GEDA Website and submit a hard copy of the same in the spiral-bound document to GEDA along with all the details as given in the Offer Document. Interested reputed Manufacturers should submit their offer with a non-refundable Processing Fee and an Earnest Money Deposit separately drawn DD in favor of Gujarat Energy Development Agency payable at Gandhinagar. The Gujarat government has announced a subsidy scheme to encourage the use of electric vehicles. Under it, the State government will offer a subsidy of ₹12,000 for a battery-operated electric two-wheeler, and ₹48,000 for an e-rickshaw (three-wheeler).   Under the scheme, the state government will give a subsidy of Rs 12,000 each to students to buy e-scooters. It will provide assistance to students from class 9 to college to purchase battery-powered to-wheelers.  

Announcing the scheme as part of five development projects, ‘Panchsheel’ Gift, to celebrate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday today, Rupani also announced an Rs.50 lakh scheme for charging e-vehicles for creating necessary infrastructure. It was on this day, 11 years ago the then Gujarat’s Chief Minister Narendra Modi had set up the country’s first separate Climate Change Department, long before climate change appeared as a challenge before the world. In a bid to encourage the use of electric vehicles, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani on Thursday, September 17, announced subsidy schemes for electric two-wheelers and e-rickshaws.

The scheme was announced during a virtual program on climate change to commemorate the founding day of the state climate change department. Under the scheme, the state government will give a subsidy of Rs 12,000 each to students to buy e-scooters. It will provide assistance to students from class 9 to college to purchase battery-powered wheelers. Furthermore, the state government will provide assistance of Rs 48,000 for the purchase of battery-powered e-rickshaws for individual and institutional beneficiaries.

The subsidy will provide for the first 10,000 two-wheelers and 5,000 three-wheelers.In addition, a subsidy scheme of Rs 5 lakh, to set up infrastructure facilities in the state for charging battery-powered vehicles has also been announced. Currently, the state has a total installed capacity of 35,500 MW. Renewable energy has contributed 30 percent to the total installed capacity, higher than the national average of 23 percent, Principal Secretary (Climate Change) S J Haider said.

He added that the schemes will be taken forward depending on the response it garners. At the virtual program, the CM announced the subsidy as a “Panchsheel gift” of five development schemes in Gujarat to celebrate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 70th birthday. During the program, the CM also stated that in a boost for green energy, the state government has provided subsidy assistance to 1.38 lakh houses to set up rooftop solar power installations.
