UPSC Geo-scientist 2024 exam schedule out on 17 April

UPSC Geo-Scientist Exam 2024: The Combined Geo-Scientist (Main) Examination schedule 2024 has been made public by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), today, 17 April. The Admit cards for candidates who passed the preliminary exam can be downloaded from the official website i.e. upsc.gov.in, one week prior to the main exam starting.

Detailing all the necessary information for candidates, as per, the official notice this exam is going to be conducted on 22 June and 23 June, 2024. Candidates must note that this year the preliminary examination was conducted on 18 Feburary. 

The goal of the recruitment effort is to fill 56 positions in total. geological survey of India, the Central Ground Water Board, the Ministry of Mines and Energy, the Ministry of Jal Shakti, and the Department of Water Resources through nationwide surveys. 

According to the official notification, candidates contesting for the position of Scientist ‘B’ (Hydrogeology) are mandated to take GEOLOGY PAPER I and GEOLOGY PAPER-II on 22 June, 2024, while exclusively appearing for HYDROGEOLOGY (Paper No.4) on 23 June, 2024.

UPSC Geo-Scientist Exam 2024: Selection criteria 

• Selection process comprises three stages: Preliminary examination, Main examination, and final document verification/interview stage.
• Candidates need to clear each stage to progress to the next level of the selection process.
• The Preliminary examination serves as the initial screening phase.
• Successful candidates in the Preliminary examination advance to the Main examination.
• Final selection is based on performance in the Main examination and the subsequent document verification/interview stage.

UPSC Geo-Scientist Exam 2024: Mains time-table  

• On 22 June, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., the exam of following subjects will be conducted:

  • Geology Paper I
  • Geophysics Paper I
  • Chemistry Paper I

• On the same day, 22 June, 2024, from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., the following subjects will be conducted:

  • Geology Paper II
  • Geophysics Paper II
  • Chemistry Paper II

• On 23 June, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., the following subjects will be conducted:

  • Geology Paper III
  • Geophysics Paper III
  • Chemistry Paper III

• Lastly, on 23 June, 2024, from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., the examination for Hydrogeology will take place.
